Account Basics
When you sign up, we collect:
- Your name and email address
- Date of birth (to verify you're 18+)
- Password (stored securely, never in plain text)
Your Profile
The details that help others get to know you:
- Profile photo
- Bio and interests
- Location (city or neighborhood)
- Status message
- Activities you're "Currently Into" and "Want to Try"
Social Sign-In
If you register using Google, Apple, or Facebook, we receive basic profile information they provide (like your name and email). We never post anything on your behalf.
Activities & Interactions
- Activities you create, join, or save
- RSVPs and event participation
- Messages with other users
- Users you follow or add to your community
Payments
If you make purchases, our payment processor handles the transaction. We don't store your full credit card number.

Location Data
With your permission, we collect your location to:
- Show activities near you
- Calculate distances
- Connect you with local people
You can disable location services anytime in your device settings, though some features won't work as well.
Device & Usage Information

Other Tomo users can see:

- Your saved activities
- Account settings and preferences
Activity Hosts
When you join an activity, the host can see your profile to help coordinate the event.
How We Share Information
We Don't Sell Your Data
Period. We will never sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
Service Providers
We work with trusted partners who help us run Tomo:
- Supabase (database and authentication)
- Firebase (push notifications)
- Cloud storage providers
These partners only access what they need to provide their services and are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.

Business Transfers

Delete Your Account
You can delete your account in Settings. This removes your profile, activities, and messages. Some data may be retained briefly for legal or safety purposes.
Control Notifications
Customize which notifications you receive in your device and app settings.
Location Permissions
Enable or disable location access through your device settings.
How We Protect Your Data
We take security seriously:
- Encryption for data in transit and at rest
- Secure authentication methods
- Regular security assessments
- Access controls and monitoring
- Secure password storage (we never see your password)
No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
Data Retention
We keep your information while your account is active. After deletion:
- Most data is removed immediately
- Some information may be retained briefly for legal compliance or to resolve disputes
- Anonymized data may be kept for analytics
Age Requirements
Tomo is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn a minor has created an account, we'll delete it promptly.
