Hosting Activities
Ready to bring people together? Here's everything you need to know about creating and hosting activities on Tomo.
Creating an Activity
- Tap the + button in the app
- Choose a category that best fits your activity
- Fill in the details:
- Title: Keep it clear and descriptive
- Description: Explain what you'll be doing and any requirements
- Date & Time: When the activity will happen
- Location: Where you'll meet (address or general area)
- Capacity: How many people can join
- Add a cover photo (optional but recommended)
- Tap Create to publish your activity
Tips for Great Activities
Be Specific
Instead of "playing sports," try "Casual basketball game at Central Park." Clear titles attract the right people.
Set Expectations
Mention skill level (beginner-friendly?), what to bring, and any costs involved. This helps people know if the activity is right for them.
Choose Accessible Locations
Public places work best, especially for first-time activities. They're easier to find and make newcomers feel comfortable.
Start Small
Smaller groups (4-8 people) are easier to manage and often more intimate. You can always increase capacity later.
Managing Join Requests
When someone requests to join your activity:
- You'll receive a notification
- Review their profile to learn about them
- Approve or decline the request
- If approved, they'll get the activity details
Pro Tip
Respond to requests quickly! People are more likely to show up if they know they're confirmed.
Communicating with Participants
- Use the activity chat to send updates to all participants
- Confirm the day before to reduce no-shows
- Share any last-minute changes (location, timing)
- Be responsive to questions
Editing or Canceling
Need to make changes?
- Edit: Tap your activity and select "Edit" to update details. Participants will be notified of changes.
- Cancel: If you need to cancel, do it as early as possible and let participants know why. They'll be notified automatically.
After the Activity
- Thank participants for joining
- Rate and review participants (optional)
- Consider making it recurring if it went well!
